I'm glad you took the time to read more into Mariana Cuello. Her family, truly was one that helped and showed how people united for a greater cause. Her sons and her partner, went into the war. Losing a husband, and having Maceo be a son that rose in this time period was something to remember.

Hi Monica,

The legacy of Mariana Cuello and her son Antonio Maceo are very important to Cuban history and the fight for racial equality. I hope both of their names live on and continue to be talked about. I'm very glad that racists were unsuccessful in completely whitening Antonio Maceo because he was an important black figure.
